About Our Boarding Kennels

Iris & Marc Wheeldon are very proud to welcome you to our boarding kennels.

Since buying Westlodge Kennels and Cattery in 2006, our vision has always been to ensure we have the best kennel and cattery facilities in the country. We have been deeply upset to see the conditions in some licensed kennels that are trusted to look after much loved dogs whilst owners are away.

We wanted to create much happier, safer, hygienic, loving and fun place for dogs to be cared for.

So, when we decided to build our brand new kennels and dog hotel in 2009, we sought advice from experts and organisations who care for dogs, and companies that manufacture luxury kennels, to make sure we invested in the very best facilities.

We pride ourselves on the care we give, and feel it’s vitally important that all our guests have the attention and stimulation they fully deserve.

We are set in the quiet and tranquil village of Great Abington in Cambridgeshire - find us.

Our boarding kennels are less than an hour from 3 major airports: Stanstead (just 20 minutes away), Heathrow and Luton. We are also within 1.5 - 2 hours of both Gatwick and Birmingham airports.

Freedom & Space

We have stunning grounds here, and whether it is a walk through the mature gardens or for some fun in our play paddock (which is a whole acre!) ~ dogs love being here, and the amount of exercise, fun and exploring they can have with friends, whether human or canine!

Caring & Dedicated Staff

It is obvious to all dog lovers that how their dog is cared for is just as important as where they stay.

We know that our emotions 'travel down the lead', in other words, dogs know exactly how we're feeling. Our staff are chosen for their affinity and love of dogs. You only have to visit us and see our staff with our guests to know how much what they do means to them, and to see how happy the dogs are.

We have put in a great deal of effort to make sure we have staff who have a vast knowledge of Dogs, and their many different needs, in order to make their stay with us a wonderful experience.

By the end of 2008, we will have in place ISO 9001:2000 (British Standards Certification), and Westlodge Kennels will be the first in the country to have achieved this recognition for quality assurance. We feel this shows our deep commitment to the high standards we aim to achieve here at Westlodge.
